//If you know the Lord is keeping you, what are you worried about? If you know the Lord is keeping you, why don't you sing and shout?//
//Sweet Jesus, sweet Jesus, what a wonder You are. You are brighter than the morning star. You are fairer, much fairer, than the lily that grows by the way. You are precious, more precious than gold.//
I really wish everyone could experience it: the old ladies banging away on tamborines, the young children clapping along. Everyone just singing to Jesus. I went on YouTube and found this video to kind of give you a glimpse...
A little about the past week...
Last Sunday I got to visit Blessed Assurance, a home for disabled children. It was a wonderful, though heart-breaking, experience. As soon as we got out of the bus, one boy came over and just started hugging us. We walked to each of the little cottages and spent some time just talking to the kids and hugging them. One boy, Rashaun, maybe 8 years old, was sitting on a chair looking at a book when we walked up. We talked to him for awhile, and then walked into the house to see the other boys inside. Rashaun stood up and tried to follow us. I could've cried right then. Both of Rashaun's feet were so badly twisted that he could barely even stand without holding onto the side of the house. Seeing Rashaun, the Down's Syndrome children, the children with badly deformed arms and legs... Somehow there was hope. It was just really clear to me that these children are especially close to God's heart. He hasn't forgotten them; He'll take care of them.
Yesterday I brought two toddlers, Brianna and Jeremy, home from Blossom for a few hours. Brianna loved playing with the dolls, and she carried one around most of the day. Jeremy screamed every time he saw the doll with blinky eyes. Brianna loved being outside and watching the chickens; Jeremy screamed every time the outside door opened. It was fun to let them see a place other than the orphanage. Ahh, I love these silly kids.

Jeremy. Probably getting ready to steal Brianna's cheese curls. |
Until next time.
God bless.
You brought precious sleepy eyed Jeremy home?
ReplyDeleteI’m sure you had a marvelous day. :]
NOW THAT'S MUSIC!
ReplyDeleteMy family moved to Dominica when I was 9 years old. We were there 'til I was 18. That was 22 years ago! After all those years there I still clap on the off beat and sing that song!
I am looking forward to going back for another visit in March.
yes, claudy, i brought him home! it was fun, although they were so overwhelmed by everything...
ReplyDeleteplainlady- (ahh, sorry, i don't know your name!) i know exactly what you mean! tonight we had a little worship service with some people visiting from America. they all clapped on the beat; the Jamaican lady behind me clapped on the off beat. i was so confused trying to figure out when i should be clapping. :) glad you get to go back soon!
