Barefoot Missionary

11.22.2010

It's been awhile since I updated.
A week ago today we said goodbye to our dear Martin friends (and tried not to cry).   Jeff and Janice and their swell kids came to visit us for a few days.  We had a wonderful time catching up, rockin' the swagger wagon, cliff-jumping, and laughing.  Oh, and looking for wass trees.
(Let me just go ahead and explain the wass tree story.  We took the Martin family to visit Mr. Remsford, an elderly gardener who lives in the mountains.  As Mr. Remsford was showing us all his plants, he told Mom to be careful because of the wasps.  Mom, not hearing him correctly, is like "Oh, wass?  Guys, look at the wass plant!"  Remsford: "No, wasps!"  Mom: "Oh, WASPS!  Watch out for the wasps!")

[Maybe you just had to be there.]

Jeff & Janice, Lauren, Kyla, Bryson, & Jaron.  In all their sunburnt glory.

In order to better relate to the Jamaican people around us, we take baths outside.  Just kidding, but it makes for some cute baby pictures.  (Pat took them, of course.)

...I'm reading "Shadow of the Almighty", a biography of Jim Elliot.  So challenging.
"Walk as if the next step would carry you across the threshold of Heaven.  Pray.  That saint who advances on his knees never retreats."
