Blossom Gardens.
It sounds like a flower show. Or maybe a retirement home.
It's actually an orphanage.
Approximately fifty children live at Blossom- from babies to children about 8 years old. I usually go to Blossom on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help out with the schoolers. My days include making play-dough teacups and airplanes, coloring, and building towers out of blocks. Pushing kids on the swings, and taking the younger ones "pee-pee". [Please excuse the vulgarity.] :)
Some of the workers at the orphanage don't treat the children well- slapping and beating them for not staying quiet, shouting at them, etc. I so badly want these dear children to see Jesus in me. I love singing "Jesus Loves Me" and other Christian kids' songs to them... Alot of the children at Blossom aren't even orphans- their parents just are not capable of caring for them.
My Blossom days are rather stressful, at times. But these kids are precious. Sometimes they call me "Mommy", and I could just cry. I know in my heart, though, that Jesus loves them, and He will stop at nothing to bring them to Himself.
Mi likkle pickney...know that Jesus will never leave you.
typical school day... one of the kids will probably run out of the room any second. |
Daniela, Christina, Ameika, and Omari-- the oldest kids in the younger half of the school room |
the little Rasta man- Selvin. He's a silly one. |
"Smile, Daniel, I'm going to take a picture of you!" Well, this is cute too. |
Trudy (who just moved in with a foster family!), and siblings Daniela and Selvin |
new girl Shannay, Daniela (again), and Daniel Shmaniel |
Little Ronaldo and Lincoln |
my short time at blossom was highly possibly a time i will never forget.
